It is hotter than hell here...as it is elsewhere too, I know. I can hardly stand to even sit here at the computer.

Anyway...

Went to the doctor Friday, and yes, I'm having surgery. August 31st. Which is putting my move and new job on hold until mid-september. But the job is still mine, they will wait for me to get this taken care of. So thats cool. And it gives me 3 more weeks to get my shit taken care of and packed and stored and whatever. Which is good, because I would be attempting to do this all today in this heat....and I would have been more miserable than I am now. :(

The one bad thing is....this delay will probably put an end to my thoughts of going to TIFF. *Sniffles* Since it starts a week after my surgery....I guess it depends when they will be showing Valhalla Rising. If it's toward the end of the festival I may feel up to it and be able to squeeze it in before my move....but thats a lot of hassle right before I move. I don't know....guess I'll play that part by ear.

I went to see 'The Ugly Truth' today, partly to escape the heat for a couple hours. It was funny...not hilarious, but funny. I'm not sure why, but I get the feeling the role was not much of a stretch for Gerry. *laughs* I did laugh out loud more than once so that's always a good sign...and Gerry looked yummy, even as a man-whore. ;)

Okay, I guess thats all for right now...I'm going to the air-conditioned store for a bit, in my air-conditioned car.

....I've finally got a general idea of what's going on in my life...

Mt tentative last day at this job is the weekend Aug 9th...and then I'm off to my new job & new city...IF, my doctor does not want to do surgery right away. From what friends have said...they know someone, who knows someone who has had surgery for a hernia...it usually takes a few months to get the surgery, if it is not causing any pain, which mine is not. So, if this is the case, I will go to Grand Rapids that weekend and start the new job on the 10th. If I do need surgery right away, then it (new job) will just have to wait a few weeks more.

So in the meantime....i need to get all my shit packed. I have only 3 weeks to pack up my house. *ugh* I hate moving/packing.

WTF...LJ just posted my entry without me even clicking 'post'. *confused*

Anyway.....so this is edited to finish what I was trying to say....I hate moving! I have to find a storage space as I don't have a place yet, and I don't have the time or $$ to go look for one right now. I will stay at the hotel until I find something. In the meantime...I said that already...but....I have the Toronto Film Festival in Sept...and I hope my new job will not interfere with my plans to go. I'll only be there a month by then...but hey, I'll be the boss, right? I should be able to take a few days....right? I hope so....we'll see. I will be VERY disappointed if I have to miss Valhalla Rising. Did I mention VR is getting it's world premier at TIFF??!!!! Well, it is...and I just have to go!! *fingers crossed*

I guess that's it for now....I took an Advil PM about an hour ago and I'm starting to feel it...

Well, the hockey season is over...and for those of you interested, you probably know my Red Wings didn't win it. Not sure what was wrong with them last night, but they sure didn't look like the same team in that last game. And as it turned out, the last game was the only one that mattered. But it was really a great playoff this year. And the Wings just won last year, so it's not like it's been all that long. :) The only thing that bothers me is that Crosby won it...the other guys - congrats. But Crosby just pisses me off, the whiner. Anyway....that's all I'm gonna say on that....



No news on my test results yet, except that my condition is "not life-threatening"...that's good to know. I have an appointment Tuesday morning to discuss my options. *rolls eyes* Already got the bill for the CT scan....$2500!!!!! For ONE freakin' test!!!!!! And another $250 for the radiologist to read it!!!! I'm in the wrong fucking business.....god knows how I'm going to pay for it if I have to have surgery.....


Let's talk about something more pleasant, shall we?

Anyone play Evony? I just discovered it a few days ago and I'm hooked! I have my city built (I named it Avalon) and I'm building a good sized army and pundering the countryside. LOL! I've joined an Alliance and recruited heroes....it's cool. *g* Check out http://www.evony.com/ - I'm on server 15.

Just finished The Pale Horseman Book 2 in Bernard Corwell's Saxon Chronicles....I am so loving it! I went to the local bookstore to get the next book.....pfffft....they only had a couple Sharpe books. God I wish we had a REAL bookstore in this town....like a borders or a B&N. Thank god for amazon. Ordered the last 2 in the series and they shipped today.

Okay, I'm off....I need to see how the building is going on the walls of my second city....

While I was in Grand Rapids today, I passed one of those nice big thaters with the stadium seating and stuff and decided to go see a movie since I was in no rush to get back home. I watched Terminator Salvation...it was not bad. I must say that Sam Worthington is a little cutie-patootie! I can't wait to see him in Clash of the Titans with Mads! *drool*

They showed the trailer for Sherlock Holmes beforehand and I must say....I have to see it!! It looks like it should be great fun! Check it out:

I actually have today off! Yippee! My daughter and I are going to watch the Red Wings game downtown here at the old historic Michigan Theater. They have a huge screen and new digital projector and sound system....and they show some of the major sporting events....for free! It should be fun....Wings are tied 2-2 in the series against those pesky Ducks in round 2....so it should be a good game, and since I don't have cable I wouldn't be able to watch at home. Yeah! Go WINGS!!!

It's 4:02am....I'm tired but I can't sleep....so I've been playing with Edgar. (I wish.......)




They're pretty because they're Edgar....but my brain is not really very creative at the moment.

I slept really well last night, so I guess I'm paying for it now. *sigh*

In other news, I guess I've had another future opportunity go up in smoke....literally. The new hotel they were building...the one where a friend of mine is supposed to be the GM and called and said he would like me to come and work for him as a possible assitant GM or Sales Director....well it burned to the ground today (I guess it's actually yesterday, now...)...completely destroyed from what they say....it was due to open in July. I guess it's a good thing it wasn't open yet...that could have been devastating. The owner already says he will rebuild....but it will be at least another year now.


Well.....I guess I should try to sleep again....good night.

I'm interupting my little adventure in Chicago to have a little Mads fix....his movie Coco chanel & Igor Stravinsky has been announced as the closing film at Cannes next month....and the official website is up. No trailer yet, but some freakin' awesome stills......damn.....

Well folks....it's that time of year again....yep....NHL Playoff time!

And of course, the defending Stanley Cup champs, Detroit Red Wings, are in the playoffs. ;)

I haven't been able to watch much hockey this season since I don't have cable anymore, but I do keep up on the standings and such. It's nice to see some different teams make the playoffs again....I can say that because the Red Wings are there, too. LOL! And 5 of The Original Six (All except the Maple Leafs...yes the Blackhawks and Canadiens are back!).

Detroit is playing the Columbus Blue Jackets in the first round. This is the first time the Blue Jackets have made the playoffs since the league expanded, what was it, eight years ago? It's too bad they have to meet in the first round...I like Columbus...I have some ties to Ohio...and one of my favorite players now plays for them (Chris Gratton). So one of them will be eliminated early....hopefully the Wings won't fall to the defending champ curse that has plagued the league in recent years, and get knocked out in the first round...but if they do, then Columbus will keep going. The first game was Thursday, Detroit won 4-1. Game 2 is tonight.
